Carlo Carrenho is a Brazilian-Swedish publishing consultant, analyst, and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in the international book and audiobook industries.
Based in Sweden, he works at the intersection of publishing, technology, and global markets, helping publishers and organizations navigate digital transformation, audio, emerging business models, and international growth.
Carlo is a co-founder of Pop Stories, a Brazilian audiobook publisher, and a member of the Alpine Global Collective, an international network of publishing consultants. He previously founded PublishNews, which became a leading source of book-trade news in Brazil and Spain before he sold the company in 2021. His consulting work has taken him across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.
He is a Contributing Editor at Publishing Perspectives, where he writes the weekly column “Around the Book World,” a regular contributor to Digital Publishing Report, and co-host of The Naked Publisher podcast. In 2023 and 2024, he served as the Frankfurt Book Fair’s Audio Ambassador.
A frequent speaker and moderator at major international book fairs and publishing conferences, Carlo brings together economic insight, entrepreneurial experience, and a sharp global perspective. His talks explore the forces reshaping publishing—from audiobooks and artificial intelligence to platforms, digital business models, and the changing economics of the book.
Carlo holds a degree in Economics from the University of São Paulo and completed the Radcliffe Publishing Course at Harvard University.
Carlo lives with his wife and their two teenage children in the idyllic Swedish town of Trosa and spends his summers in the charming Sardinian village of Santu Lussurgiu. He relaxes and has the best insights when looking at the sea—be it the Baltic, the Mediterranean, or the Atlantic Ocean.
